About CodingMarble Typing

CodingMarble Typing is a free typing test, typing tutor and typing games website. You can measure your speed in words per minute, learn touch typing from the home row up, and practise in English, Hindi and more than 40 other languages — without an account and without paying for anything.

Who runs this site

The site is built and maintained by CodingMarble, a small web and app development team in India founded by Ranjeet Mishra. The same team runs our calculators, PDF tools, image tools, biodata maker and the other free tools listed at codingmarble.com. Typing went live in September 2026 and we add to it every month. You can reach a real person at support@codingmarble.com or through the contact page.

Why we built it

Most typing sites either test you without teaching, or teach you behind a login. And almost none of them work properly in Indian languages: they assume you own a Hindi or Tamil keyboard. Here you can start typing instantly, learn from the home row up, play games that drill your weak keys, and type any supported language on an ordinary English keyboard — using the on-screen layout, the Inscript and Remington mappings, or phonetic typing where you spell the word in English letters.

How our content is made

Every passage, lesson and page on this site is written by us. The practice texts are original sentences written for typing — we do not copy paragraphs from books, news sites or other typing websites. Lessons follow the order that typing research supports: home row first, then the keys nearest your fingers, then numbers and punctuation, with review lessons that bring back the keys you keep missing.

For each language we check the keyboard layout character by character against the words we ask you to type, so you are never shown a character the layout cannot produce. Native speakers' word lists are used for the word tests, and the on-screen keyboard shows the same bilingual keycaps a printed keyboard of that language has.

How we measure speed

We use the standard definition: one word is five characters, including spaces. Net speed (WPM) counts only correctly typed words; raw speed counts everything you typed. Accuracy is the share of keystrokes that were right the first time, and consistency compares your speed second by second. The maths is the same one used by typing exams, so a score here is comparable with scores elsewhere.

Exam practice

Our CPCT, SSC, court and other government typing simulators follow the patterns published in the official notifications and exam instructions as closely as we can — the same time limits, the same backspace rules, the same way mistakes are counted. They are practice tools built by us, not official software, and no exam authority is involved with this site. Always check the current official notification before you rely on any rule.

How the site is paid for

The site is free and is paid for by advertising. We show ads from Google AdSense; what that means for cookies is explained on our privacy page. We do not sell data, we do not take money to recommend anything, and nothing on the site is a paid placement. There is no premium plan and no feature is locked.

Your data

There are no accounts. What you type in a test is processed in your browser and is never uploaded. Your results, lessons and settings are saved in your own browser's storage on your own device, and you can export or delete them from the My progress page.

Mistakes and suggestions

If you find a wrong character in a layout, a typo in a passage, a lesson that teaches a key in the wrong order or an exam rule that has changed, please tell us — we fix those first, usually within a few days. Most of what you see here, from phonetic Hindi to the exam simulators, was built because a user asked for it. Write to support@codingmarble.com. Our terms of use explain what you can do with the site and your results.
