How the zombie typing game works
Think of it as a zombie defense typing game: a cartoon zombie apocalypse where your keyboard is the only weapon. Does playing make you faster? Measure it
Your score in Word Zombies shows how well you survived, but it depends on the level and your luck with word lengths. Games to test your typing speed should be backed up with a proper test. Take a one-minute test before you start and again after two weeks of play. Speed and accuracy are calculated like this:
WPM = (correct characters ÷ 5) ÷ minutes
Accuracy = correct keystrokes ÷ all keystrokes × 100
Example: in a 2-minute test you type 480 characters correctly and press 500 keys in total. Your speed is 480 ÷ 5 = 96 words, 96 ÷ 2 = 48 WPM. Your accuracy is 480 ÷ 500 × 100 = 96%. For comparison, the typical adult average is about 40 WPM, and 95% accuracy is a good minimum.
Survival tips: go further in Word Zombies
- Nearest zombie first, always. A far zombie with a short word can wait.
- Finish each word. Switching to another zombie mid-word wastes the letters you already typed.
- Slow down after a miss. Players usually lose lives in pairs because they rush after the first mistake.
- Keep your wrists relaxed and return to the home row between words.
- Play short rounds. Two or three rounds are enough; stop before your accuracy drops.
- Use it with lessons. One lesson on your weakest keys, then a zombie round, makes a good daily habit.
Can you play with friends?
