This Turkish typing test uses real Turkish words and sentences – için, çok, değil, şimdi, güzel – so you practise the six special Turkish letters where they really appear. In Turkish it is a klavye hız testi (keyboard speed test) or yazma hızı testi, and touch typing is 10 parmak klavye (ten-finger typing). It is free, needs no sign-up and works in any browser.

What makes typing Turkish different
Turkish uses the Latin alphabet with six extra letters: ç ğ ı ö ş ü. The most important detail is the i: Turkish has a dotless ı and a dotted i, and they are different letters with their own capitals – ı / I and i / İ. kır (countryside) and kir (dirt) differ only by that dot, so the test marks the wrong i as a mistake.
Turkish is also agglutinative: suffixes stack on a root, as in evlerimizden ("from our houses"). Words are long, and endings like -ler, -lar, -dir, -miş repeat constantly, so typing them as one smooth movement is the fastest way to speed up.
Turkish Q vs F keyboard (F klavye q klavye)
Türkiye uses two keyboard layouts:
- Turkish Q – QWERTY letter order with the Turkish letters added. It is the most common layout on computers and laptops today.
- Turkish F – a layout designed for Turkish letter frequency, with all the vowels under the left hand. What is F klavye (f klavye nedir)? It is the older standard, still used by many professional typists and in some public exams. The F klavye dizilimi puts U İ E A under the left fingers on the home row.
The built-in layout on this site is Turkish Q. If you type on an F keyboard, keep "My own Turkish keyboard": the test accepts whatever your F layout types, so it works as an F klavye hız testi too. The on-screen keyboard shows the Q layout; you can turn it off in the settings. To switch your computer between them (f klavye q klavyeye nasıl çevrilir), add both "Turkish Q" and "Turkish F" in your system's language settings and switch with Win+Space on Windows.

The key where English keyboards have I types the dotless ı on Turkish Q. The dotted i lives on the home row under your right little finger. Mixing them up is the most common Turkish typing mistake. A few words keep a circumflex, such as hâlâ and kâğıt; on a Turkish keyboard set up in Windows, the ^ key (Shift + 3) is usually a dead key, so ^ then a gives â.
Klavye hız testi for katiplik and zabıt katipliği
Court-clerk recruitment by the Ministry of Justice (Adalet Bakanlığı) for zabıt katipliği has included a practical keyboard test: you copy a text for a short, fixed time, often 3 minutes, on an F or Q keyboard, and your net words are scored. Rules, time limits and minimum speeds change between announcements, so always check the official notice for your exam.

- Use paragraph mode for katiplik metinleri-style practice: full sentences with capitals and punctuation.
- To copy a real past exam text, paste it into the custom typing test.
- Turn on stop-on-error if the exam will not let you continue past a mistake.
Exams usually count real Turkish words. Because Turkish words are long, your exam word count will normally be lower than the WPM shown here, which counts every 5 characters as one word. Compare characters per minute for a fairer picture.
How speed is measured
WPM = (correct characters ÷ 5) ÷ minutes
Raw WPM = (all typed characters ÷ 5) ÷ minutes
Accuracy = correct keystrokes ÷ all keystrokes × 100
Worked example: in a 3 minute klavye hız testi you type 630 characters and 600 are correct. Your speed is (600 ÷ 5) ÷ 3 = 40 WPM and your raw speed is (630 ÷ 5) ÷ 3 = 42 WPM. With 600 correct keystrokes out of 630 your accuracy is about 95.2%, and your pace is 200 characters per minute.

Types of typing test in Turkish
Different types of typing test train different skills. Examples of typing test modes you can run in Türkçe:
- Timed – 15 or 30 seconds, 1, 2, 3, 5 or 10 minutes.
- Kelime yazma hızı testi – a set number of words: 10, 25, 50 or 100.
- Paragraph, quote, numbers and custom text.
- Klavye hız testi oyunu – play the typing race (an araba yarışı where your car moves as you type) or the other typing games in Turkish.
- Yazma hızı testi on the phone – the test works in a phone browser; the built-in layout is off there, so use your phone keyboard.
